If you are thinking about renting a car to explore Japan, start by making a reservation.
Once your car is booked, the rest of your journey will go smoothly!
Booking a car in advance will ensure
an easy departure!
Making a reservation ensures a smooth journey, but depending on the season, walk ins are accommodated when possible too. Don’t hesitate to give it a try. If you decide you want to rent a car at the spur of the moment, ask your hotel staff to call a car company for you. Some hotels in Japan have arrangements with car rental companies where you can get special discounts, so its good to ask the hotel staff for their recommendations.
Japan requires a lot of paperwork
In order to rent a car, you will need to present your passport, international driver’s permit, and a credit card. You will also have to provide the address of your hotel, or wherever you are staying in Japan. If more than one person will be driving, each person will be required to present these documents, so make sure everyone has their paperwork in line before the trip.
Where to rent a car
Most car rental companies are concentrated around Kanazawa station, which makes it a convenient place for travellers to set out from. The East exit of the station is ideal for accessing Kanazawa sight seeing spots, but if it will be your first time driving in Japan, it is probably better to rent a car near the West exit. Leaving from the West side of the station, you can head straight for the highway and start your road trip out of town without getting stuck in city traffic.
You can reserve online before
coming to Japan!
Did you think you have to visit a car rental shop in order to make a reservation? Well, think again! There are a few car rental companies with English websites for making reservations. You can compare their rental policies in advance and see which one suits you best. Check out these sites!
